THE DEPARTMENT OF ENT

The Department of ENT has started function from 27.1.2021 under the leadership of Col. (Dr). Ajay Mallick, then Additional Professor and Head of Department along with Two Assistant Professors namely Dr. Debangshu Ghosh and Dr. Aniruddha Sarkar. Since 03.03.2022 Audiological Investigations are being done with our latest fully equipped equipment like Pure Tone Audiometer, BERA and OAE machines, as well as Tympanometry have been installed. Neurotological and Vestibular lab was started on 31.07.2022 with fully loaded latest technology equipment like Videonystamography (VNG), Craniocorpography (CCG), Subjective Visual Vertical (SVV), Dynamic Visual Acuity (DVA), Posturography, Virtual reality based Vestibular Rehabilitation Module (VRT), Video Head Impulse Test (VHIT), Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (VOR) to rule out the vestibular system related problem. The department of ENT has obtained new equipment like Full HD Operating Microscope with camera with recording capability, Shaver system with microdrills, Nerve monitor, Argon Plasma Coagulation machine, Full Endoscopic set, ENT Coblation system and many more . We also do major and minor ENT surgeries on everyday except Government Holidays. Special clinics like Allergic Clinic were started from 25.01.2022 and performing Skin Prick Test for the having allergic related issues and providing appropriate therapeutic options to the patient. The department also regularly runs special Head and Neck Tumour Clinic since 14.03.2023 whereby a multidisciplinary team meet weekly to decide upon treatment of complex Head & Neck cancer cases.

Apart from routine patient care we regularly take part in community outreach program in urban and rural health centres. Researches and publications on various aspects of ENT including ICMR funded projects are being underway actively.

Our department got the Opportunity to “Serve with Smile’’ in this Institute of National Importance (INI). Running OPD services with different fresh and referred cases not only from West Bengal but also from other States are good achievement for us. Teaching different clinical aspects of ENT to Undergraduate and postgraduate Students to pave their path for making new generation of bright doctors.

Faculty members are involved in deferent administrative work. Our Head is also serving as Medical Superintendent of the Hospital . Other Faculties of this Department, are also shouldering different administrative work sincerely. We are Progressing day by day along with total Institution keeping citation of Swami Vivekananda in mind ‘Motion is the sign of life’.
