Overview:
The department of Endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism is one of the superspeciality departments of the AIIMS, Kalyani. We deal with the diagnosis and management of various complex hormonal disorders. The department started its glorious journey on 27th January, 2022 and was inaugurated by Prof. Ramji Singh, honorable executive director of AIIMS, Kalyani. OPD patient visits have already reached more than ten thousand, a year. One faculty, one senior, and two junior residents and six trained nursing officers operate the department as of now. The department provides consultation and inpatient service for all aspects of Endocrinology, including various types of diabetes, adrenal, thyroid, pituitary and reproductive, pediatric and adolescent Endocrinology involving growth and puberty among others.
Vision:
Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism envisions to provide excellent state-of-the-art patient care and educational opportunities at various levels and also wants to thrive in pioneering clinical research. The department aims to achieve a national and international reputation in various fields and sub-fields of Endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Moreover, we want to make it a go-to place for patients for the treatment and for students to get high-quality training in Endocrinology and metabolism. The final goal is to emerge as a center of excellence in Endocrinology in future.
Missions and Objectives:
The mission of the department is to uphold the trinity of patient care, medical education and research. This will be achieved by fulfilling the various objectives in near future. In the immediate vicinity the department aims to start specialized clinics for comprehensive care; to start post-doctoral DM and PhD courses in Endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism and to undertake multicentric collaborative research work.
